As a babywearing family, we don't leave the house without a baby carrier. There are times though when I wished my soft-structured carrier wasn't so bulky as I run out of the house with my hands full. I think the folks at Boba read my mind (and that of many other moms) and created the World's Lightest Baby Carrier! The BobaAir is so compact, it folds into itself and takes up very little space. It's the perfect travel accessory!
It is perfect for short trips and running errands. Something I would leave in the stroller or in the car for when I need it. It's really easy to use, just like a soft structured baby carrier like the Boba Baby Carrier. It is made of nylon and the buckles are seriously heavy-duty. It includes a sleeping hood if your baby snoozes off in the carrier. A comfy, baby-hugging front and back carry make it a versatile option no matter the task at hand.
Because of the material, I wouldn't really recommend it for very hot climates, unless you don't mind the baby getting a little sweaty. Here in New England it is perfect since most of the year is cool or cold. Likewise, if you wear it with a tank top, you will have imprints on your skin, it digs in a little - so it is a lot more comfortable with at least a t-shirt. I'm not sure if it is recommended, but I think it would be great in the water like the pool or lake! Personally, I wouldn't wear this carrier for more than half an hour to an hour at a time. So for me it's great for quick food shopping trips, post office, the park, and day trips. Baby T has learned to walk, so now he wants to be in and out of the carrier all the time - the BobaAir is perfect for that.
I just love how it fits into a neat little pouch the size of a medium makeup bag, Baby E thought it was pretty neat too! It takes just a few seconds to stuff it into the pouch. It is very light too, it's perfect because my City Mini stroller doesn't have a lot of storage space. Now I can reclaim that valuable real estate for other important things since the basket isn't filled with a baby carrier! Another thing I love about it is how low-maintenance it is. It's so easy to wipe it clean or just rinse it by hand. It's going to be a rare occasion that I actually have to throw it in the wash.
With our regular carrier, I have to wear it on myself if the baby wants out because there is really no place to put it since it's so bulky. With BobaAir I can just roll it into the bag and put it away (or wear it on my wrist), now I'm not going to look funny in photos - wearing an empty baby carrier on myself while Baby T toddles around.
The price point for the BobaAir is $65, which is half price from the full-feature soft structured carrier. I think it's reasonable and if you travel a lot, there is simply nothing like it! I am becoming a big fan of compact baby gear - thanks Boba!
Starting tomorrow, we're giving away a BobaAir carrier to one winner during the Travelin With Baby Giveaway Hop (along with other awesome prizes)!
Buy the BobaAir on Amazon or on the Boba Website
Loving this option for travel - that's the one drawback to carriers sometimes is that they're a bit bulky when you're not using them.
ReplyDeleteI was looking in to this carrier last month because I had decided my birthday present to myself this year was going to be a carrier that I could use for back carry so I could actually get stuff done. However, we live in SW Oklahoma, and it is at least 80-90 nearly all year and gets well over 100-110 in the summer. Last year it got over 120 and almost that high this year, so I really wanted a breathable carrier. I got the Ergo Performance, and I use it all the time. My 9 month old now this his morning nap is supposed to be on my back and will not lap in my lap anymore. LOL. I love my Ergo, but you are right. It can be so bulky. I'd love to have the Boba Air for when we are out & about. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteYay! I am so excited to see this item in the giveaway. I love how this carrier folds up so small, so it's easy to carry around everywhere :-)
ReplyDeleteI love how trim the Boba Air is! Sometimes a carrier is so bulky to squish into a bag.
ReplyDeleteLots of BobaAir's being given away during this event! It's such a great travel option!
ReplyDeleteLove Boba! The Air is such a great carrier, I am so excited for those entering!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of this carrier. Just started babywearing and very exited about it!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of this carrier. Just started babywearing and very excited!
ReplyDeleteI love how compact this carrier is, you could fit it in your purse!
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect for taking on the go! And the price is great!
ReplyDeleteI just love how small this folds up! I would love this to keep in my diaper bag at all times!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if this would be the most comfortable carrier during our hot humid summers, but I'd love to try it out anyways. I like that it is so compact!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how long you'll be carrying Timka as he grows and starts walking, i noticed my girl is getting heavier and is growing out of carrier. Judging by description something worth to try and experience =)
ReplyDeleteYour little one is adorable! I love how lightweight this looks.
ReplyDeleteVery nice how small it packs up.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of this carrier. I love babywearing
ReplyDeleteI love that it is compact and that I could leave it in the diaper bag.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to decided if I'd prefer a regular Boba or a Boba air and you have me convinced of the value of this carrier. I totally resonate with not having anywhere to put out normal structured carrier when we're out and about (and when the little guy doesn't want to be worn)...it'd be great to have something I could just stick in the diaper bag or purse. Thanks for a great review!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice how compact this gets, and it's good to know that it probably wouldn't be comfortable to wear more than an hour at a time.
ReplyDeletelove love this carrier

i love how it packs up so small
ReplyDeleteso easy to carrie and easy to use
DeleteI think this is a great carrier, and especially love that it can get so small. Great review!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to know this isn't great for hot climates. I live in Arizona and had thought about getting it. It would not have been used much. I wish they made a carrier like this that works for hot climates too. I didn't wear my daughter as much as I want to simply due to the heat.
ReplyDeleteLove the Boba carrier! I dont' have one yet though i'd love if i could have one because my baby boy always wants to be in my arms, which is fine, since he's only 4 weeks old but i need to get things done too and work as well so this would be perfecT! thanks for the great review :)

I really need a quick light weight carrier. Good to know it isn't very breathable though.
ReplyDeleteI love this! My current back up carrier is a ring sling I made that I wasn't totally happy with. I keep it in the car for those times when I leave the house without a carrier. This would be a nice option for the same thing and as she gets older having a two shoulder carrier would be easier on me.
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect for us. I love babywearing, so much easier than using strollers!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a great carrier. I absolutely love how small and light it is, it means its perfect both for long trips and short ones.

this sounds great! i like the idea (recommended or not..lol!) of wearing it in the water too! thanks for the review! i'm excited to try one out!!
ReplyDeleteI think I would like to have this for going to Walmart, and going to the beach in the summer!

Great review, the Boba Air looks so awesome. I love that it will fit in the diaper bag just incase!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so lightweight! And the baby looks comfortable- with the knees above the butt to avoid hip pain!
ReplyDeleteWow I can't believe you can put it in that little bag. My britrax one is so bulky.

I have really wanted to get something like this, I'm excited that it's in a giveaway. :) thank you!
ReplyDeleteI have the regular Boba, but love how lightweight this seems.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like it would be a great carrier to use with both my 6-month-old and my almost-3-year-old who goes back and forth between whether she wants to be carried or not.
ReplyDeleteI think this would be perfect for new baby wearers who just need something for trips to the store and running errands! (Michelle Ferguson)
ReplyDeleteI really like how small this carrier folds up and how lightweight this looks. Thanks for the giveaway!

I also understand how annoying it is to have to wear my regular carrier just in case my little one wants to be carried - most carriers are just too bulky. I'd love something like this that would fit in my purse!
ReplyDeleteJodi J
so perfect for going for long walks together.
ReplyDeletei like these i never had them with the older kid and now i have so many around here that need to keep pick up
ReplyDeleteI think you are right about only having it on for a short period of time. It's probably perfect for running a quick errand or two or a short walk. I'm not sure if it would be better than a sling tho since both have the capacity to make the baby sweaty and you too, lol
ReplyDeletethese look amazing. a great price point and so convenient. i love your point about being able to just roll it up if baby doesn't want to ride anymore.
ReplyDeleteI really love that it fits in a pouch!
ReplyDeleteI love that you have a review on this carrier because I have been thinking about getting it. I love my Beco Butterfly II but it is kind of bulky and I have been thinking about getting this for quick trips when it is too much to have my little guy walk. I am sure it won't be as comfortable as the Beco but it will be easier for travel and I can just leave it in the car.
ReplyDeleteI love my Boba 3G but this one looks like a great choice for hot summer months.
