Baby stuff. Doesn't it just take over your house? I try not to let it. Bouncers, cribs, highchairs, car seats. It can be overwhelming, especially in small spaces. That's why I was super excited when I discovered the KidCo GoPod compact portable play center (while I was reviewing the PeaPod toddler bed). A play spot for baby that I can instantly put away? Yes, please! It is genius, it is the answer for parents like me who just can't stand the thought of another unwieldy baby gear monster taking over the tight-as-is house.
Baby T is becoming a mobile little monkey. No, he can't crawl or walk yet, he is 7 months this month. But he does sit on his own and he has an insatiable urge to be standing even though he can't do it himself. We were passed down an old baby exersaucer, but there is just no room for it in our small living space! I didn't want yet another square footage swallowing baby thing in here. I was so excited when KidCo offered to let us try the GoPod, the folding exersaucer that you can put away in a cinch. I'm over baby gear that is a nightmare to store, so done with that. Now I'm always looking for things that fold, disassemble easily, or are very compact.
It isn't perfect just because it folds, it also goes with you anywhere. We took it on our recent road trip to Washington D.C. and set it up in our hotel room. Not only did it take up very little space in our car, it was great to have in the hotel room so that baby can stay safe and entertained while we get dressed or take a shower. Hotel rooms can be quite unsafe for baby, it was nice to have this with us. I can use it outdoors if I want to, I can take it to grandparent's house, if I ever needed to I could even fly with it - it's compact enough for the overhead bin - it is a perfect baby travel gear item. Let me put it this way, if you like to travel with a baby between 6 months old and a year - you'll love this!
This is one of his favorite spots to be! Unless he is really hungry or overly tired, he will be content in this handy contraption for at least ten minutes and even up to half an hour (though it is rare I need to leave him there that long). This gives me enough time to take a shower, do the dishes, or get some important work done on the computer. You can attach whatever toys your little one prefers to the loops and it keeps them occupied. I do wish the loops came with some sort of rings that open and close so that you can attach any toy with a loop, that would be helpful.
The GoPod takes less than a minute to set up and to fold. When folded it takes up about the same amount of space as a folding camping chair and it has a convenient pouch with a strap so you can carry it over your shoulder. It is a sturdy nylon material, looks like if we have any more babies, they will enjoy this too - it is made to last. There are also two cup/snack holders that are perfect for a baby who is more independent already. I'm sure Baby T will appreciate it during the stage before he starts walking but already likes to much on snacks. I really like that the leg opening in the seat are not directly in the middle, they are just a tad facing toward the front - which means that instead of always 'hanging' inside, the baby can actually sit down in it when his or her legs get tired. It is great they thought of the little mat under the feet too, otherwise the baby would be able to move it around. This design is very much thought through!

ReplyDeleteI've been toying with the idea of getting this because we have officially done away with the plastic exersaucers. (we don't do plastic in this house) I know I will probably want some sort of contraption to keep this next baby happy and entertained and not crawling all over the place. :)
