Welcome Baby: Stokke Tripp Trapp Review

What comes to mind when I say "A timeless baby gear classic"? I now have one in my kitchen, seamlessly blending with our decor and hardly evoking any baby related thoughts - the Stokke Tripp Trapp. What a great solution for meal time comfort from baby to adult! We are very excited to review the Tripp Trapp and to share our thoughts with you.

My first concern was that the chair is designed for babies from the time they can sit up unassisted. I thought "This is such an investment and it can't even be used from birth". Then of course I realized I am breastfeeding exclusively for six months anyway, just like with the first baby! With the Tripp Trapp Baby Set this chair can be used to introduce solids. Though I would suggest the Stokke Table Top to make clean up easier and contain the mess. In the past the Tripp Trapp wasn't so baby friendly, now with these accessories it is truly the only chair you'll need.

Since I have a two and a half year old little tester, I was really eager to try it out with her since the baby isn't born yet and it will be a while until he/she will be using that chair. With our first baby we had a cheap hand-me-down high chair, later passed on to my nephew. In a house with four boys it's probably destined for the free section on craigslist.

I didn't want to wait for my husband and assembled the chair myself! It was mostly intuitive, except for the part where I didn't realize I shouldn't screw in the bolts all the way until I have the seat and foot rest in place. It took about 20 minutes with my daughter's 'help'. She was so excited to finally climb in there! We've been using it for over a month and absolutely love it. It's so easy to clean, she loves sitting in it and I can tell she is comfortable, and it's easy on the eyes.

As an Interior Designer I really appreciate a high chair that doesn't scream 'baby!' It matches our kitchen and technically you could replace every dining chair with a Tripp Trapp and it would look great and be used by adults. Though there is no way I would spend that much on a whole set of chairs! The Tripp Trapp retails for $249.99, though you can often find it cheaper with special deals. The Baby Set is an additional $69.99 and the cushion is $44.99 (which isn't necessary). It is definitely above the price range most people can afford for a high chair, not within our budget for sure. But if you're looking for something to fit with a modern decor and can afford it, it's quite perfect! You can actually get it for $229.50 right now on Amazon with free shipping:

Stokke of course doesn't just make high chairs. The Stokke Xplory Stroller and the line of Stokke Nursery Furniture is just as thoughtfully designed and modern. I love how they design all of their products to grow with the baby and last through the years. Oh, and the Xplory Winter Kit? Does it get any more luxurious and adorable?!
