Smartipants are a favorite in this house. Though we only have one of their original one-size diapers, I love putting it on my toddler because it has a very trim leak-free fit, it always washes well, and I don't need to take the soaker out before the wash. For the Newborn Fluff event we received their new products that we haven't tried - the Little Smarti AIO newborn diaper (above) and the Smart Fit One Size Cover.
Materials: Smartipants are all microfiber and PUL. The soaker is sewn into the Little Smarti diaper and makes it an All-in-One. Though man-made, it is a convenient material that's very common for cloth diaper use. My favorite feature is that it keeps the baby's bum dry!
Sizing: The original Smartipants are a One Size diaper, which we really loved. In this review, the Little Smarti diaper (above) fits from about 5-12 lbs, it's tiny! So cute and perfect for little newborns. There is no stuffing to do and it functions much like a disposable. It truly looks like a hassle free newborn solution.
The one size Smart Fit Cover (above) is highly adjustable. Not only does it have velcro at the waist for a perfect fit, it also has a set of snaps in the back to make the waist even smaller for smaller babies - the first I've seen of this kind. The rise is also adjustable with snaps in the front.
Value: The one size Smartipants that we previously reviewed are a great value at as little as $11.66 per diaper if you buy a 24 pack or $14.95 for an individual diaper. The Little Smarti is not very good value in my opinion because it only fits for such a short time and costs $16.65 per diaper in a three pack. That is a lot for a diaper that only fits up to 12 lbs! I don't see how I would be able to afford them - but I wouldn't think twice about the One Size diapers. The 24 pack of One Size Smartipants for $280 is all you will need to diaper a baby from birth to potty training! That definitely beats about $1,000 per year on disposables.
The covers are priced at $13.95 each or $39.95 for a 3 pack. The price is comparable to other covers of the same type. It is one size though, so it works from birth to potty training as well!
About: Smartipants are designed by Jessica, a mom to four that is a veteran in cloth diaper design and the creator of the original one-size diapers called Wonderoos. I really think that her design that isolates the insert is superb for containing leaks! Genius. Not to mention that all diapers are U.S. made by moms, a huge plus!
