I'm starting to really warm up to fitteds as I imagine they will be great for containing breastfed infant messes. Depending on which you use, sometimes you can even go without a cover at home - they're just too fluffy and cute! I've discovered Hippeez diapers, sewn by a mom in Canada and we were sent a fitted diaper to try.
Materials: Hippeez
fitted diapers have a stay-dry, stain-resistant fleece interior (also available with cotton Sherpa or flannel if you prefer natural material). The rest is made of multiple layers of soft and absorbent 100% cotton flannel with or without microfiber in the hidden soaker zone. My first impressions were that a) they're adorable and b) they're really made to last - very well made and sewn.
Sizing: These diapers come in 8 sizes! From a preemie all the way to size 6 (35+ lbs). This of course makes for a perfect trim fit made to fit your baby. It isn't as trim as a dry disposable, but trimmer than a wet one! Most babies will not need a diaper in each size though, so don't worry, you may skip from a size 3 (16-28 lbs) to a size 5 (27-35). There are just a lot of options depending on the weight range you're looking for.
Value: Since Hippeez are not one-size, you would be spending a little more. But consider that the price ($11.99) is half that of some one-size diaper brands. You will need covers though, which Hippeez makes as well (wool or fleece). It would be nice to build a whole stash out of these (just like the mom who makes them uses on her baby), but great even if you just buy some for when you need a really reliable diaper.
About: Hippeez are made by a mom in Canada who started with making her own diapers both to save money and to have the features she wanted in diaper. Kudos for one of the best WAHM product sites I've seen, it is so easy to navigate and to make a purchase!
