This accessory is for the James Bond woman, the one who inconspicuously breastfeeds her baby in public. We've all seen the nursing covers before, the ones that cover you and the baby. This accessory is a little bit different because it covers the mom but not the baby. Most mothers will agree that nursing is a great time to bond with the baby, to look into those precious eyes, to run your hand through the fine baby hair. I love it when my girl smiles at me while nursing! This is our time in the hectic day when we are both relaxed and content. So when we are home I can nurse wherever and whenever, when we are out in public though and she needs to nurse I can't have the same bonding experience because with a nursing cover she is covered. This is where Baby Bond comes in. It is like a long cotton scarf, but one end of it has a double layer of fabric that, when worn as designed, allows you to cover above and below the breast and feed your baby in public discreetly.
FIT / EASE OF USE: Alright, this might be just me, but using this the first time was not intuitive. It took about eight minutes to figure it out. There are pictures to go by on the instructions and the tag, but I just didn't get it at first. Once you do it a couple of times though it is easy. The key is not to separate the double layer of fabric until you have it on and adjusted to fit! You can also check out the video below to see how it works.
I have a nursing cover that I made myself and it has boning at the top that allows me to see the baby while I nurse. I like that with Baby Bond there is nothing in your way and the baby is open to the outside world. The only issue is, if your baby is similar to mine, she is very easily distracted. When she was four months and younger she would not care if she was nursing and there is noise and people walking around. Now that she is older, she will not nurse if there is any distraction. She will immediately turn around to see what's going on. So Baby Bond is great if your baby is not easily distracted like mine. If he or she happens to turn the head, the sash quickly closes in to cover you for privacy. I recommend this for younger babies and especially if you plan on being out in public a lot with a newborn or infant. It makes a great baby shower present as well!
The scarf/shawl is one size fits all. If you are tiny like me though, the tail end of it will hang almost at the floor. I just tuck it in or wrap it around somewhere, not a big deal.
QUALITY and VALUE: The Baby Bond scarf is very well made. The fabric is high quality and the stitching as well. That is easily explained since it is made in the US by fairly compensated workers. The cool thing is, Baby Bond replaces the need for expensive nursing tops and the Couture shawl works with any existing tops you have for nursing from the top or bottom of your shirt. At $35 it is actually priced less than the average nursing top!
COMPANY: Baby Bond is a mom owned company that gives back to moms in many ways. Besides making this very useful product, Baby Bond makes regular donations to moms in need.
